1/200 is to make sure that the action is frozen. I don't get much ambient light in, but I don't have any weird blur. My backgrounds are often just blackness, but that is fine. I want my subject to be lit, and not blown out. I use the -1 to keep the camera from blowing them out with all the darkness around them.
