I like my 19" LCD monitor as well (Dell Ultrasharp 1905). 1280x1024 is the defacto resolution for 19", but for 20" monitors most except the very cheapest are 1600x1200.
One nice feature is a monitor that pivots, so that if you're working on a vertical image, you can fill the screen with it (the Dell I have has this feature). But AFAIK, you need Pivot Pro software or something similar to enable the feature. Good luck in your search!
