Bob,
An interesting thread, and I've been lurking my way through it from the
beginning. The only way
I've found to keep track of the actual shutter clicks is to keep a written log
somewhere, and who
has the time or the presence of mind when you're in the "heat of battle" to do
that. I am known in
my circle of photog acquaintances for taking a huge number of shots when I'm in
the field. I went
to Yellowstone for a week of winter photography (pre-digital) and was in the
field for five days.
I came home with 42 rolls of film, which was pretty normal for me. Everyone
else on that trip had
less than half that....

I gave up trying to count the clicks when I upgraded to the 1Ds... it rolls
over at 9,999 anyway,
and then you lose track.

An intriguing thing to think about, but why should we bother doing this? To
show the age of the
shutter mechanism? Or just as a curiosity.

Congratulations on finding that piece of heaven called "retirement". Wish I
could say the same.
Jane
