I'm looking into how to add Regen to my DC setup.
I have a tailshaft on the motor, and a fair amount of empty space to work with.
(and no real concerns about weight of course! :-)

The quick-n-dirty method is to put a pulley on it, and belt drive the usual accessories it had as an ICE; alternator, power steering pump, vacuum pump, air conditioning compressor, water pump (for heater), etc. You can use a clutch pulley (like an A/C compressor) to switch it on and off as needed, or simply tolerate the standby losses.

The alternator can be used just to charge the 12v battery (to eliminate a DC/DC converter). Or it can be rewound for a higher voltage to charge the propulsion pack (true regen).
