I used to complete 200K and 300K brevets, so I am not averse to riding an
unassisted xxxcycle. If fact for recreational purposes the ELF is a bit
much and not as enjoyable. My wife and I rented an assisted tandem once
(she is not all that much at stoking, so...). It was very nice, and it is
why I had any interest when I saw the Kickstarter campaign for the ELF,
which I beta tested

The ELF is a decent urban car replacement. Not many people use it as I do,
but that may change. You can do substantial shopping with it. If you need
to get to work with minimal sweat, it is good for that; and the weather
protection encourages one to use it even with sketchy forecasting. For a
50 mile round trip commute, you have to be on a relaxed schedule and going
slow, or be willing to do the aerobic work out needed to average 24mph. If
you back off to 15 to 18 mph it is relatively easy. It's a rough go if you
end up pedaling without the assist as it weighs 140lb. I had an uncertain
connector and had to pedal several miles before I sorted it out. The
remaining 8 miles home would have left me swinging in the hammock for the
afternoon had I not figured it out.

Anyway , it is good form more than one task, and I recommend it.

Organic Transit are working on a cargo model, and a head out sport model.
It is desired for the sport to go 35mph - the speed rules are leniently
enforced so that they can consider it anyway. There is an uneven, but
relaxed view of these things in the US. There are a lot of unlicensed
scooters that seem to be capable of 45mph. I am not sure these are
strictly kosher, but we have them anyway.
