Myself, I don't see why you need electric on a bicycle at all. I ride about 50 to 100 miles per week on a regular bike. I've hauled pvc pipe and emc conduit (strapped along the bike frame) and an attic fan (bungied on the back rack) about 6 miles home from the hardware store and up the 300 ft gain to my house at the end. My wife is more dedicated than me, frequently making the 16 mile round trip to town and back 2 or 3 times a day on her bike - even in winter and in 40 - 50 mph winds. She was once blown over by a gust. I'm more of a wimp in wind.
