Fine, but using the exact same argument you dare not take a sip of coffee because that will also soon change you to a person that was different from a person who did not take that sip of coffee. *> I read the other day about this whole idea of brain uploading. The > neurophysiologists are largely rejecting this idea.* I don’t know what specifically you’re referring to but I don't need to because Ialready know what the objections would be, there are only two general categories. 1) They will say mind uploading would be enormously difficult to do so we can’t do it now witch is true, but then they will say it will always be enormously difficult to do which is not true. In the future everything that is not forbidden by the laws of physics can not only be done it can be easily done. 2) They will present an argument that, when you boil away several layers of glop, you will find its some slight variation of the very silly Sacred Atoms Theory, the idea that there is something special about the particular carbon atoms in your body. They’d be far too embarrassed to just come right out and say they think some atoms somehow have your name scratched on them, but that is the clear implication. And Lawrence, I just don’t understand how you can be so certain about this that you’re willing to stake your life on it, because that is exactly what you’re doing. If I’m wrong I won’t be any deader, if you’re wrong you’re going to be a lot deader. John K Clark -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Everything List" group.
