Thanks Stan, all of us appreciate you thoughts & concerns. I have been very
vocal about the decline of F500 for a few years. Perhaps now that the class
is facing potential ellimination from National competition we will start
worrying & do something.

We have tried to sell our car to move into something else with no luck yet
so we will be running Nationals in the Great Lakes division this year.
However one of the things I am worried about is the dilution of competition
now that the Cen-Div is 2 divisions. We had very good entries for F500 in
the Cen-Div of around 6/race but now that we are 2 divisions those numbers
will be cut way down with more races in each of the new divisions.

Thanks ... Jay Novak

I hate to keep pushing the alarm button, Jay, but I don't want anyone
surprised at the end of the year if F5 loses its National status. At this
point last year F5 had 28 entries (versus 14 this year), and comfortably
retained its National status and a spot in the Runoffs. This year's numbers
are so low that at this rate the class will lose both.

FYI, last year F5 gained half a point per race from this point until the end
of the year. If that trend repeats, the class will still fall 50 short of
getting enough entries to remain National.

You all know the CRB & BoD have created new classes in an effort to revive
growth in National racing. With the creation of those new classes have come
calls to consolidate classes that are not growing or are in decline. Believe
me, though, your situation is not unique to F5. Look at the Prod classes
(and read how scared they are on their forum) with no new cars and no new
drivers in GP and HP. Look at S2...40-50 cars have left the country in the
past 5 years and no new cars are being built. What do you think will happen
to those classes if they fail to make the number? Merge or revert to
Regional-only status, that's what.

Let's face it, F5 did not get into the predicament it is in because the CRB
did not approve a muffler for you (you didn't even ask for one last year,
BTW), or because any other single issue did or did not get passed. F5 is in
the position it is in because folks quit entering Nationals...pure and
simple.

It is up to you guys...and the ball is DEFINITELY in your court.
