Welcome aboard...you`re up there with Brent..nice and chilly! lol..And
I thought it was cold here the last few days in Texas! (I`m FROM
Sweden though, but for that reason!)

as for heads , find some with big valves.....the 5 C `s are fairly un
known ,so you can easier get them cheaper...I bought a set from NY a few
years ago, and then had them milled to 88CC....for my `72 400 engine, I
think it comes out to +- 9.2 CR on mine..paid $150 for the heads (they
had been finished up/re built a few years earlier, and not installed so
a little surface rust on them) , shipping $90, I added 1.65 Rockers
also, (drilled out the holes for that to 5/8")..cleaned off , milled ,
drilled that cost me another $350....

but I`d suggest not to put 455 badges on....leave what you have, be
"sneaky"...lol

Hello from chilly Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada (a high of -25 C today
that is about -13 F).

My name is Dion and I have to confess I've been "lurking" in the
background receiving the great emails from this list for a couple of
months now.

I have owned a medium blue 68 convertible with a 1974 455 for a little
over a year. I need to figure out how to get pics onto my FGF profile,
but all in good time. It is on Kelly R. 's Alberta Firebird web site
under friends rides. Can I paste that link here?

After all that I do have a question,

My 1974 455 has the stock 4X 114cc heads. I think the c.r. is around
8.2 : 1. I have a good lead on some 87cc "15" heads that will put the
cr into the (approx) 10.5 : 1 area. The only problem is they are the
smaller (1.96" intake 1.66" exhaust) valves.

So my question is this worth the head change? The 1970 455 B-body big
cars with these heads made 360 HP and close to 500 ft. lbs. My low cr
heads are either 215 or 250 HP (not sure). I want to put the 455 badges
on the hood but I don't seem to have much more power than a worn out
350. Could more power be as easy as a head swap?

Any opinions would be much appreciated.

Thanx
