OK, I found some time to test today. I tested mem 1_10, 1_11, 1_11a and 1_12.

The garbled text was only in 1.11a. My editor recognises it as UTF-8 and when I run it, it shows the bad characters. When interpreting the text as CP858 it shows the
characters of Aitors screenshot.
1.12 (latest) is ok.

The FIXME: text is already in 1.10 (published in 2006-08-25) and 1.09a2 (published in 2005-11-17), and the characters seem to have been correct even at that time.
As I cannot speak spanish (I only know in about the characters, that es uses) someone should translate it.

Overlong text is a problem in all NLS files as it often leads to the result that there are ugly line breaks. The problem for the translator is that he/she never knows what is the max. of characters that he/she can write without such line breaks as it is always different. Some programmers wrote comments something like: max xx characters at this line. But this is not standard.

While checking some NLS commands I noticed that the line feed is not identical too. Some use CR-LF (DOS/Win), some use Unix LF, one time I have even seen Mac CR.
Interestingly FD seems to support CR-LF and LF even with edit, but CR does not work. Should we use a standard or fix this?

Some languages only offer UTF-8. Should someone change them to CPxx (e.g. 865 for NO)? I could try to do so but I do not like useless work (as I had with the kl files that were not overtaken).

Thanks, it's good to know that it is possible to have shorter text in Spanish. There are other languages that also have the problem in 'mem' so I think it's likely to be a program change that's required to solve all.
