I always felt that responsibility cannot be dictated. It must be encouraged in infants and children (positive affirmation) and furthered (through teaching) to adolescents. So, we have lost at least 2 generations. Those who are now adolescents or parents themselves will find it difficult to emulate any kind of responsibility or to teach it to their children if they have not learned it themselves therefore it falls upon the "state" to do so.

Dropping school hours is not the way to teach. There is a definitive lack of positive affirmation for the students. They become (to a great degree) overwhelmed by the demands, lost, and depressed. This is a simulation of the "robber baron result". More teachers, smaller class sizes, creation of enjoyable learning experiences, equal time for practical, physical and artistic skill development. The manner of affirmative teaching creates better social skills.

This must be 1 of the ways to "start".

I can certainly agree with this statement, but then we're faced with the question of how to map responsibilities onto rights, and how to get others to agree to this. Any thoughts?

There are ā€œnā€ number of ways to organize an economy. Mine would include a basic income but before that happens, citizens would have to understand that with rights comes responsibility.

What would that system look like? Would it include a Basic Income for all? What else is necessary for such a system? And, then, how do we begin to change the current system to more closely resemble that system of "truth, beauty, justice and harmony"?
