Help!

My girlfriend's G4 tower (digital audio, OS X.2.6) has gone headless. At least that's what it looks like. No hard drive icons for any of her 6 partitions (across three hard drives) were showing on her desktop a couple of days ago. She tried Norton Disk Doctor, but it didn't help. She booted into OS 9, and used the native disk utility, and it said it found and fixed several disk issues, and got all volumes to show, except her OS X volume. However, when she double-clicks the icons, she gets a message saying "This disk is being used by OS X" or some thing like that. And of course her OS X volume is still not in evidence.

The funny thing is, the computer seems to be working fine other than that. Apps, chat, burning CDs, all work.

Any wisdom? Should she just reinstall the OS? Should she reinitialize the drive and then reinstall the OS?

Thanks for any info,

J (Chicago)
