"let me add that this may please not be mistaken for calling you or others
names"

Well, there couldn't be any better definition of fascism than given [
negatively ] in the above statement.

Recently in MM Vision , Johny Lukkose asked M N Vijayan about the 'nasty
language' used in Patam magazine against certain individuals. He quoted
Russal and said that when somebody is not listening to you you should beat
them with chappals and say it again!! Reading Deshabhimani these days I
realise that they have become Vijayan's true followers. They are abusing him
on a daily basis.[ As T T Sreekumar observed in personal talk, Deshabhimani
was no different when Vijayan edited it. Only, the target was different.]

I personally will never support such verbal volence despite the fact
that they might be raising
relevant points. We need more [ not less] democracy among us .

Recently in Madhyamam weekly, a Samskarika Nayika wrote a self righteous
article on
Kilirur issue. She made certain vague allegations against Sugathakumari in
it. Reshma Bharadwaj and i wrote a letter questioning her arguments and
asking her to substanciate
it.[ Not because we are Sugathakumari's fans] She wrote two or three
sentences in reply in which at least five or six labels were pasted on us!!
" neo liberals', " bookish' etc.

Another reason why I am against demanding response from cultural leaders is
the
fear that it may have inherent anti intellectual bias. looked at it from a
different perspective,
every intellectual/ academic / writer is so in a particular field of their
expertise. They are laymen in all other domains. Their rights as citizen
have to be recognised.
Being reflexive, I personally don't think that anubody could be self
righteous
and accuse others these days. We all are resisiting on different levels,
allying with different
people. If we all have ideological unity, we would have been working in a
single
organisation. I am not a full time activist. But I won't say that I am not
one as well. It depends on what your notion of political subjectivity is.
Here, in this forum,
I consider Venugopal and Ranjith [whom I don't know] as intellectuals
assuming the position of activists in order to attack certain other
intellectuals who are presnt and absent here.

One strange feature I identify in you and the Madhyamam writer is the same
self righteousness I had while I worked in CPIM[L] a decade ago. I find that
sort of a mood as
masculine and undemocratic. I have been struggling all these years to
reinvent political agency through practical and theoretical
explorations....If you find the tendencies I am criticising appering in me
at times that corroborates the truth of what I am saying, not other way
round...

As I have already said more than enough , will concentrate on listening for
some time.. I am really afraid that i too am forcing people to quit this
group!!!
