yea it's always complicated...who'l be given birth to it or who can be omitted... such generalisations will always create problems..especially when we use it as an 'abusive' term.. and it becomes so from the very connotations and denotations of the civil society (another complicated term)... i know kochu and his theory and praxis.... but in the emerged scenario in which dalit become a fad for media (some), and activists' pleasure (thnks to the praxis of ngoisation) lives of dalits in kerala is becoming more and more burdensom issues such as chitralekaha, neetu etc etc are just tip of the iceberg and i think there is nothing wrong in questioning the dominant narratives of civil society (may be people responds to something tangible than an elusve concept like civil society; so we need to mention some names though being not politically correct always) as i mentioned in later emails that i m least botherd abt "cultural leaders", and more intersted in ; i m least concerned abt whether sara joseph, ajita and dilip raj fall on one side or other ..... .. it's abt how the so called civil society in kerala takes up issues, u have pointed out that udayakumar becomes less newsworthy, chitralekha, neetu, rajni all remain victims of our insensitive civil society not only samskarika nayakar, the academics, politicians, activists etc etc in kerala seem to be afraid of initiating debate on caste.. samskarika nayakar r a product of such environment as well without addressing the caste question, chitralekhs issue need not possibly be debated
when the invisibility of chitralekha issue becomes commensensical hardly we find takers to debate it... such an attempt is importnant for the simple reason that one can be in a position to "irritate" even a CPM payyannur branch committee let us hope for the best and i m still finding a better mulla story regards --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ greenyouth mailinglist is the activist support mailinglist for kerala To post to this group, send email to [email protected] -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
