The near lack of sensitivity in Chithralekha Case, one of the most
grotesquely played out abuse of human rights recently in Kerala that has
caused a poor dalit woman to flee her home and hearth, has to be reiterated
here; notwithstanding the illfeeling it may generate inside the collective
ego of this space.(Pardon me, if I have fiound such thing at least in my
imagination, in case it is not there.)
Sooner do we realize that Keralam is still a place inhabited by a people
overtly and covertly casteist, and ridiculously gendered, the sense of
complacency flies.
This also seems to hold equally for our purportedly superior ability to
articulate and express ourselves as a civil society.
You cannot exclude dalits, and you cannot escape from being asked questions
on and on , about your attitude to caste and gender, though you may continue
to linger on 'issue based' and pragmatic methods of agitation in the field
of HR.
