Sugathakumari was instrumental in highlighting the plight of the Adivasis of Attappady in a big way. I remember reading a series of articles by her, published in Mathrubhumi weekly several years ago. So it is not that she always ignores the people and sees issue only in a romantic, hug-the-trees sort of way. Not that the latter is a sin in any way.
