It is hard to tell if you don't know what you're looking for, but our Traveller crew is still on the approximately TL9 desert world Yori. From time to time I'm posting GT vehicles to GURPSnet. And in the meantime I'm tinkering with other TLs, like the extremely high TL starships. I was truly amazed how fast ships can get ... A couple of years ago I wrote a TL15 cruiser and gave it 25 times the base FTL speed. The TL15 fast courier some months ago and the liner next week have 75 times the base FTL speed. Oops. I have similar gaps at the lower TLs, partly because I don't play much fantasy and partly because I find it difficult. Fantasy with strong magic overshadows the vehicles, fantasy with little or no magic is indistinguishable from history. A Stargate-like setting could help here -- low-tech populations, centuries of separate development on alien worlds, what could they come up with? The series ignored this because of prop/CGI costs. Well, I'm not doing "GURPS SG-1", I'm doing "GURPS interplanetary travel with gates". * Watercraft, maybe. Local construction or imported through the gate? TL4 without gunpowder, because the Evil Overlords will punish muskets but not improved rigging? Galleys, because cheap and plentiful peasants can be drafted as rowers? Small sailcraft, because small populations are spread over thinly settled worlds? * Ground vehicles depend on the draft animals. But how exciting is a dragoncart as a Vehicles writeup? Vehicles reduces draft animals to their ST, size in hexes, and speed. Not sure here. * Aircraft are out.
