Unlike lift from vectored thrusters, contragrav lift is just lift,
with no way to turn it into thrust. It is also relatively cheap to
add reserve CG lift, so the chariot might be designed for "one fat
Overlord and a driver at 1.5 G" and easily cope with three Heroes
at 1 G. Drag goes up and air speed goes down, but the square root
reduces the effects.
40 lbs. thrust, 75 sf vehicle, three standing passengers: 50 mph.
40 lbs. thrust, 75 sf vehicle, two standing passengers: 55 mph.

The one for human use. It could be an ancient/precursor/Overlord
design. Mike's question about fantasy tie-ins got me thinking of
an even lighter one for COIN work on primitive worlds[1], so now
the 10-ton design is the "Medium Grav Gunship" and the new 3-ton
design is the "Light Grav Gunship".
I tried a 30-ton "Guardship" with a tractor beam and it didn't
work out. Go to 100 tons? Does that mean there is a "Heavy Grav
Gunship" as well?

But are the PCs the exceptional crew which leaves their vehicle
behind more often than not, or are they the dismount team of a
NPC-crewed vehicle? I'd rather have a PC in the command seat.
[1] What is the difference between a TL12 grav gunship and a
tame dragon? The gunship is more reliable. Imagine an
adventure where the player characters are special forces
who have to lead a rebellion among the peasants.
