Transport trucks or APCs have their own crews, who can move the
vehicles while the infantry unit dismounts. Cavalry would leave
about one in four as horse holders, who could lead the mounts
away on a string if required.

Completely different from your scheme.

Can the suit spread the feet wide enough to sit on a bike? Can
it sit in the saddle and move the torso for balance at the same
time? Possibly, but that adds design requirements to the suit.

It is the suit and not the trooper which rates the limo. The
suit is about the weight of an unpowered infantry squad, and
heavier than a TOW or mortar team.

If one driver/assistant per suit is a problem (and remember
that the guy doubles as a mechanic) there could be a bigger
truck with more suits per vehicle and fewer assistants per
platoon. Something the size of a Cougar MRAP could hold
three or four suits, with just a driver and a co-driver.

Pro:
* Fewer drivers per battlesuit.
* More room to suit up.
* Higher DR for the same total weight due to scale effects.
* Possibly there could be a crane to recover damaged suits.

Con:
* More eggs in each basket.
* Larger, higher vehicles are more visible.
* No chance to reorganize teams on the fly, as you suggested.

Onno
