> What about a short-barreled, large bore railgun firing HEAT?

That would give a rather high WPS, even with extra-low-power
rounds, and few shots. It would be the battlesuit equivalent
of a grenade launcher, not the equivalent of a rifle.

I'm thinking about a 5mm railgun with 3,000 rounds, a 5.12-MJ
blaster (6d*24) with power cells for 175 shots, and 36 pounds
of rockets or missiles -- could be six 6-lb. missiles, four
9-lb. missiles, or a single 36-lb. missile.

The railgun can be used against "lesser" threats like troops
in light body armor and expendable recon drones. The blaster
can punch through "equal" threats like battlesuits. The
missiles are either against "superior" threats like tanks,
with one shot per battlesuit, or silver bullets against
difficult "equal" threats. Not much more lethal than the
blaster, but with brilliant seekers to go over cover.

Stats for the little ones:
80mm modest HEAT, BIIRH skill 17, 3.5 lb. motor with speed
600 for 3 seconds, WPS is 6 lbs.
80mm normal HEAT, BIIRH skill 17, 4.4 lb. motor with speed
600 for 3 seconds, WPS is 9 lbs.

Three seconds means one turn to move over obstances, one
turn to acquire the target, and one turn to attack.

Stats for the big one:
150mm normal HEAT, IIRH skill 21, 8 lb. motor with speed
1,200 for one second. Or an unguided rocket with speed
1,400 for one second.

Onno
