Howard, Slot A3 is the IOCS this is the hardware definition, normally have the two names of LPAR and all devices.
I didn't understand if you have one master catalog or two, and if TEST and PROD LPAR are sysplex or alone each one. But, if you have an IODF like SYS1.IODF05 in TEST Lpar and this work with all devices. You can only use this same to the PROD Lpar, if same master catalog is just use it, if different master catalog, do a copy of this dataset and catalog in the PROD lpar master catalog and use. The LOADxx in SYS1.PARMLIB has the information to use IODF..... Verify your LOADxx in TEST Lpar and use equal in PROD Lpar. When you copy SYS1.IODF05 from TEST lpar to PROD Lpar if the master catalog is different from each one, it doesn't make difference if you use same name or different name. Sorry, if I can't be clear enougth.
