I would love to spend some time reading the manual you suggested below but the 2105 is leaving on Thursday and I don't have time so I'm trying to dope this thing out. I loaded one IODF into slot A3 and it works for the test lpar...there aren't any connections between the test and prod lpars. Now if I get what what are you and and the fellow before are saying is just to point the test and prod lpars to the sys1.iodf05 iodf with the loadxx file and have another card image in the loadxx member with the lpar name. But don't you need one OS configuration for test on one for the prod lpar? Can you explain the flow? Thanks

Do I need an card such as: * Column Contents * ---------- ---------------------------------------------- * 1 - 8 LPARNAME * 10 -17 A required logical partition name as defined to LPAR. * A blank indicates an OS/390 image not running in LPAR * mode. The default of matching the system being IPLed * is set indirectly by specifying the HWNAME parameter. in order to get this to work and should I define an Prod & Test configuration in the IOCP gen with HCD. I have one sitting out there now called OS390 but only my Test lpar can see and use it. -- snip -- Howard, let me highly recommend looking at HCD user's guide SC33-7988 for a more detailed explanation of how to define the hardware configuration. Basically - 1. The IODF needs to define both LPARs 2. An OSCONFIG (or multiple OSCONFIGs for each seperate DASD configuration) 3. The IODF needs to be loaded into the Hardware (IOCP) 4. Each MVS needs to have the (or a copy) of this IODF. 5. Define an LPARNAME statement in the LOADxx member for each MVS system. There are many more details, but you'll find them all in the HCD user's guide.
