Howard,
I did suppose that your system is a z/OS.
Well, I didn't know what is your doubt, but:
IOCDS it is the old IOCP
IODF it is the old MVSCP
IODF is the OS configuration, the hardware configuration is the IOCDS an it
is located in A3.
The tool HCD run under TSO and it is the data entry to create the IOCDS and
IODF.
I did assume that all devices that TEST lpar use is the same of that PROD
Lpar use and both have different Volumes.
But the volumes are in the same 2105. To have the TEST Lpar working with
2107 you probably do a Power On in the machine with A3.
Now, if you have IODF05 in TEST lpar accessing the 2107, if you activate
this in the PROD Lpar you will access all
2107 volumes also. Well, If you have different others devices between TEST
and PROD, you will have some trouble, but
if the devices configured are equal and the only difference is TEST has 2105
and 2107 and PROD only have 2105, if you copy or use this IODF05 in PROD,
you will have the access to 2107.
You have a console command that you can activate a new IODF with software
(OS config).
AN IMPORTANT OPTION IS TEST this can inform if has errors and you can
correct, and when the IODF is ok
you can activate.
Suppose your PROD actual IODF is IODF99.
Suppose you copy IODF05 from TEST to IODF55 in PROD Lpar.
ACTIVATE IODF=55,SOFT=VALIDATE,TEST
If everything works ok remove the TEST and you will access 2107, if any
error message correct the problem.
Any problem return to IODF99 and your PROD Lpar work ok with 2105.
I recommend some cautions and doing this in a weekend or not in the
production time, This is a Production LPAR.
Instead of you know what you are done, some times you can have trouble and
can compromisse your production.
Or training in the TEST lpar and when you are confortable work in
production.
