At work I used to build a lot of web pages and used iPhoto 1.1 to covert the PDF files from screen shots to JPEG files. I ran Software Updates on my machine and loaded iPhoto 2.0 thinking nothing of it. Well, guess what? iPhoto 2.0 won't let you import PDF files so they can't be converted!! D'oh! Well, luckily I had iPhoto 1.1 on my Mac at home and replaced 2.0 with 1.1 and was back in business. Boy, did I learn a hard lesson that day!
No reason to keep the glacially slow iPhoto 1.1 around. There are plenty or really fast simple ways to convert the pdfs. There's even a CM that does it...
