When I upgrade to a new program (like you did with iChat AV), I hide the original application in a folder somewhere (outside of the Applications folder) so it doesn't get overwritten. If things go south, I can always switch back.
At work I used to build a lot of web pages and used iPhoto 1.1 to covert the PDF files from screen shots to JPEG files. I ran Software Updates on my machine and loaded iPhoto 2.0 thinking nothing of it. Well, guess what? iPhoto 2.0 won't let you import PDF files so they can't be converted!! D'oh! Well, luckily I had iPhoto 1.1 on my Mac at home and replaced 2.0 with 1.1 and was back in business. Boy, did I learn a hard lesson that day!

these different things. No attitude from this guy either...unlike the first

I did end up doing the archive and install in the end but it was well worth
it and there appeared to be no other options. He even talked to the Product
Specialist to double check we had tried everything.
So, everything is working fine now. Much faster too !
