Mary, Too late now I'm afraid :-( Already ditched iChat AV and did an archive and install. I am now using the original iChat and am having absolutely no problems.
I don't plan to try iChat AV again until it comes out with Panther. It just caused too many problems. As soon as I trashed it, everything seemed to work properly again.
