You can set Classic to start when you log into your Mac. Or, if you never
log out, just start Classic once, and leave it running. There is no
reason to stop Classic when you aren't using an OS 9 application.
I noted that when you mentioned you had it on all the time! I was so
used to only having a few applications running on OS 9 that I don't
think about it! I realize once in a while that I have had 5 or 6
heavy duty applications running for a week or more, never shutting
them off and I surprise myself! I guess it would work to just start
it up and let it run. Then I could add recipes as I see them instead
of waiting to do it one day when I have "time" (never!).
Actually, I've never really understood why people say they hate using
Classic applications. To me, they just work, like everything else. The
only down side I've found to them is if one Classic app crashes, it takes
all Classic apps down with it (same as if booted into OS 9 directly). But
that isn't a big deal because you just quit and restart Classic... OS X
isn't bothered by it at all.
Me neither...and *I* was doing it! Habit? Not understanding what OS
9 running under OS X could do? I don't know but it never really
occurred to me! I start it and then when I am done I close it -
again, habit of not having too many things running. Silly me! :o) I
think I will go start OS 9 and import some recipes! LOL!
Thanks for the reminder that it works like that!
Michele
P.S. as far as the original question, I guess I am not of much help
since I don't run OS 9 but it is fun seeing other answers!
