As a computer geek, I am
really curious as to why anyone would use OS 8/9 when there is a much
better OS available for a reasonable price. If you think OS 9 is
better, I want to know your reasons. Also, if you are still using
Classic a lot in OS X, please give me those reasons as well.
At a music store whose computers and software I take care of, we are
running Helix for the business database. I recently set up one computer
there with 10.3 to better access the internet, but there is no X version of
Helix yet, so we will be running 9 at least until there is a X version of
Helix. Maybe longer, since for what we are doing there is no big reason to
upgrade, and upgrading means not just $ for software but also retraining
staff, etc. If it's not broke...
Personally I have yet to find the web design program I am really fond of
that is native to OS X, so I am using Classic a lot at home. Also I have an
older printer (Epson 740) and the OS X drivers will not allow me to print
with black ink even on a B & W document (very annoying), so I sometimes run
Classic so I can print things in black ink, rather than using up my color
carts to print in black.
