There actually isn't much of a difference in stability with OS X and 3rd 
party junk as there was with any other version and 3rd party junk.

The days of Extension Conflicts have just been replaced with Kernal 
Panics.

But both occur at about the same frequency. Just don't load yourself up 
with tons of crap and you should be good to go. The advice is the same 
since the System 7 days.
