This is certainly an indicator that IPSwitch is starting to see the need to bet all or nothing on a new strategy. IPSwitch concentrated heavily on the ISP market, which is in decline. Microsoft concentrated on the office market with Exchange, which is growing despite the market downturn. At the end of the day, the features IPSwitch needs to add are not in the product, and not in development, like a shared calendar. IPSwitch is declining with their market, and they need companies who can add features to IMail in order to continue to offer it as a viable product. Increasing the price was a bad idea, but necessary, not because IMail is soooo much better, but because the IMail market is declining. Increasing the features to compete for sales in the office market is a good idea, and benefits current ISP customers as well, as does keeping the price where it was.
