If you have *lots* of agents receiving FAXes, it might be worth
looking at setting up multiple inward lines (also known as "Direct
Inward Dial" or DID).
This is a *different* aproach from a distribution "monkey" that either
reads FAX electronic header information (put there by the sender) or
attempts to OCR the FAX itself looking for recipient info. *Instead*
it's a matter of assigning each agent a personal FAX-receipt number.
the agent then asks for the FAX to be sent to his/her personal number.

[a little background - skip if the above won't work in your situation]

Essentially a number of "numbers" come in on the same "line". The
branch exchange informs the PBX (or other device on the line) which
number this connection is for.
If you're using analog lines (I'd be surprised if you were) the
information comes in as MF which some modems can decode. Look for the
ability to use this information as one of the features you're
evaluating when you look at a FAX reception package.
If you're using T1/T3, you have DID. The PBX receives the
"destination" information from the inbound call info - BUT - what it
does with it (other than route to a particular extension or set of
extensions - like calls to "anyone in sales" or "next available agent"
or "night bell") differs depending on the PBX you use. I'd sugest a
call to your PBX supplier for information on how they handle DID, and
how this might work with FAX reception hardware/software packages.

Hope this helps,
Bob
