Janab ,
Mobile operators did try to get a legal opinion which in fact was given to
them from a Lahore based lawfirm , due to the guarantee of only 4 players in
their MOU with PTA and PTCL and also the allocation of Operating frequencies
, that firm advised them not to go in the court , otherwise they have the
same views about Royalty which we have . Mobile operators need allocated
frequencies to function and all over the world frequency bands are auctioned
sold as here they use a special opportunity or facility no one else can use
that band .
Like if we drive on Motorway , Government can charge us for the use of it in
the form of token / toll tax , Royalty whatever you call it .
All links which we use for Internet we pay for them to PTCL . So in our case
no issue of Royalty arises , we donot use the aerial limits of Pakistan for
communications as Mobile operators do .
Sir , If I am able to convince you I think we will win the case in the
court of law as well :)
Please do attend the meeting in Karachi , I will love to reply all your
questions . I am hopeful that you will be satisfied .
Best Regards
Saad Saleem
