I would have to tread carefully hear as it is not my intention to offend anyone in the US. I have thought about the US but firstly I seriously doubt that I would be allowed to emigrate to the US especially when unemployment is so high.
In all honesty I feel like the US is a nice place to be able to visit but would have concerns about wanting to live there permanently. The US seems to be suffering from very much the same problems as the UK. I know that the US was always a much more powerful economy to begin with but going from one country with huge national debt, high unemployment and some serious crime problems in some areas to another country with huge national debt, high unemployment and some serious crime issues. I am not really thrilled by the the US love affair with guns but I could get over that. A lot of people in the US have the perception that everyone in the world would be falling over themselves to want to live in the US but honestly if it were just as easy to emigrate to the US as it was to emigrate to Canada I would still rather go to Canada. This is not a reflection on the people of the US as I have known a great number of really good American people and particularly been impressed how some of them are prepared to go out of their way to help people they hardly know. I would assume California must be pretty nice as I don't see otherwise why people would want to live en mass on top of a major fault line. I have heard some horror stories though from some who lived in the bad areas of California. I think many in the computing world have a kind of spiritual home in Silicon Valley whether or not they choose to live there. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
