Names not healthy on new currency Allow me to express myself regarding
the new currency of South Sudan as there is a lot of talk everywhere
across the ten states of the South about the new currency. The few
things that left people of South in debate are: 1- No date appearing
there (on the printed currency/notes). 2- President of the SSCB
(Elijah Malok Aleng) and minister of finance (Deng Athorbei) names
appearing on the money. These two things really shows lack of vision
to our leaders because those positions are not going to be held by
them until the end .According to my opinion they are supposed to draft
in only their signatures rather than names. I think that is not a
healthy idea for the name of those two gentlemen to be on our money.
About the date, this is the big second issue right there. I heard Mr.
Elijah talking about British Pound of not having date on it and South
Africa too, over Miraya fm radio. The thing is not all about
comparison.Dominic Dut, South Sudan.
Government should protect consumers In response to Chier Akueny
Anyithiec's mail about KCB overcharging it's customers in Southern
Sudan as well as rejecting the local currency in favor of the dollar,
I must say they are not the only ones. Most foreigners are there to
make a quick buck. Take for example a bodaboda rider (Ugandan to be
exact). When I came to Juba in March 2011 to train staff members of
one Micro Finance there, he charged me 12 Sudanese Pounds for a ride
to the entrance of the bus park to get my money changed and then back
to the bus park. Just because I was new in Juba, he took advantage of
me and over charged me. Government should come up with a policy to
protect the consumers (Nationals). Rasawood Bagaiga, Uganda
Nuer ignorant of history Nuer don't pay any attention to history
whatsoever, and as a result they will never learn anything from the
past. No wonder why Nuer are destructing our civilization in South
Sudan. It is simply because of their ignorance to history. As it is
shown by Nuer blaming the death of Galuak Gai on the SPLA and
downplaying that Galuak himself killed hundreds of Nuers who they
refused to account for... L.L. Reuben, Canada
Nuer need to learn mistakes Yah, I do agree with someone who said that
Nuer need to learn their mistakes and crimes they committed. In fact
not all Nuer need to learn but there are those within ranks and file
in Nuerland who need to go to school to learn about how important is a
human being. I remember when Dr John (Garang) said that history of
Sudan will judge and describe Nuer throughout. Majok Aker Ayai,

Corruption a disease in SPLM If the celebration of our independence
started with disorganization and corruption then this have become a
disease in SPLM which can not be corrected forever. Just imagine, the
new currency has no date apart from the signatures of the Minister of
Finance and Governor of Bank of South Sudan. This an intended move in
order to print more bank notes for their personal use soon. When
thieves are appointed in such positions then this is the outcome.
Urbano Tipo, South Sudan
To mention the corrupt is to invite relatives' physical assault. In
South Sudan, it is exciting for those who need the system to be fair,
to hear those that are corrupt to be exposed. However, for anyone
doing the exposure it is more of a personal risk than just letting the
public know, who that person doing the wrong thing is. I have seen
this a number of times in community debates. Many people serving in
the South Sudan government are embezzling the public money, and we
all, including their relatives, know this. But despite that fact their
relatives are protective of them; whenever they hear their corrupt
relatives names they jump into your face and assault you physically,
or if you are lucky you are threatened with it, and warned of actually
experiencing it if you dare mentioning it again. This the situation
here overseas; as their relatives are in power back home, and threaten
the public with their army and police. They are succeeding in getting
away with such a crime we are all seeing unfolding. But we are totally
in limbo; we can see it (corruption) practically; money is being sent,
and is being spent extravagantly in our watch, by the protective
relatives here. On the contrary, we pretend nothing is happening, lest
we get beaten. Not only are they a threat here they are like spies,
and when we stand against such behavior here abroad we are limiting
our chances for back there. We fear that we could get identified and
punished later when we come back. This the reason why we hide behind
the net, and say what we know.
But is this enough? I fear it is not, but I hope the world is watching
and will help us get these individuals. This is already showing up,
the pressure from the world caused Pagan's his job. But this is not
enough; for him and his friends who have stolen more than 600 million,
to be forgiven. They have to hand that sum back. The relatives have to
also know that this is a crucial moment, to tell the loved ones to do
the right thing. The system will get fairer with time and the corrupt
as well as the the protective relatives will land in public jail.
Relatives be realistic, act now. Biar, Australia
SPLA Spokesman is a liar. The Death of Gatluak Gai was an assasination
carried by SPLA soliders in Unity State. The assassination of Gatluak
Gai mustn't be blamed on internal problems within the rebel forces.
The gunfire which finally killed him and other officers were fired by
the SPLA soldiers. It was a planned attacked by the SPLA/M. The
statement issued by SPLA spokesman was wrong; it was just a flat-form
to hide the blood of Gatluak Gai whom they assassinated three days
after signing decisive agreement. This is a great lesson to all the
challengers of SPLA and SPLM political party. I was just few meters
away when it happened. Matheo Gathor, South Sudan
Premeditated murder of Gatluak The death of Gatluak Gai must be
condemned in the strongest terms possible and the Governor and the
Divisional Commander must be made to account for that heinous act.
It's against the custom of Dinka and Nuer to give somebody food and
later slay him or her. This is in contravention of the Amnesty
declared by the president. Believe me or not, this man was
assassinated intentionally and it was a premeditated act. Manyang,
Khartoum
Can Nuer people learn from experience? Can Nuer people learn from
Death of Gai Tut, William Nyuon Bany and Gai Gatluak death? Nuer
people can never learn from experience or from their mistakes because
they often sell their lives with positions. Look back and look
forward, please Nuer people.Tut, Juba
