I wasn't picking you out. I'm sorry you felt that way.

I was just trying to put a stop to the thread before it went further.

What is *not* on topic is discussing Ancestry and whether it's worth the money
or not and what you've found on the site.

What *is* on topic is discussing copying data from Ancestry into Legacy.

Does that explain it better?

I accidentally sent a message in HTML when I responded to a lister who had
written in HTML and got a message that reminded me to change to plain text. I
realize that "accidents happen" but there are posters who continue to use HTML
in spite of numerous warnings about the dangers and difficulties of HTML....
(please review the guidelines for details)

I've been on numerous email lists and every one of them has rules of some sort
which the listers are expected to follow. I have no problems with that because
I always read those rules or guidelines before signing up - acknowledging in my
mind at least that by signing up I agree with them.

Thanks for using Legacy.

Fine. Please realize though that this was only my 2nd or 3rd post here, and
your response only quoted me. Being snipped at by customer support for
something I have not done, nor intended to do isn't friendly. Doesn't seem a
good way to keep customers. Just saying.

Yes, I caught that. I replied by saying I want to do the opposite of that.
I'm still not clear. The tone sounds very hostile to me, but the use of
"unless" seems to be opening the door a little. So, if you please, could you
give me in plain English if talking about how best to get my info. out of
Legacy onto the internet is a banned topic for this list. Obviously that will
necessarily include discussion of products not written or sold by makers of
Legacy.

Well, that is clear, and very limiting. The friendly exchange of ideas in the
use of the Legacy products in my mind would include how best to get the info.
out and shared online, what the best partner products for doing so might be,
etc. However, I read your statement that any post mentioning third party
products not sold by the Legacy coop are unwelcome. It's your sandbox, your
rules, so fine. That just wasn't made clear in the guide to me.

> You are free to discuss how to create web pages in Legacy....
I don't. I have many years experience writing software, including web sites
and applications. What I want to know is the best way to use Legacy to help
manage, maintain, create and otherwise integrate with an online presence for my
genealogical info. This is something I have no experience with.

I have. Didn't think I was violating them.

> "Send messages only in plain text
Sorry about this one. 1.) I am a member of only one other list that has this
requirement. In that case they provide the ability to reply and post to their
boards online for folks like me that 2.) Use an email client that requires a
manual setting change to send plain text for each new message. I can assure
you I do not sent Rich Text emails intentionally, but a manual process is an
error prone process.
