Hi, Shane,
I got the same message when I tryied to install X from an old
distribution, with no support for newer S3 cards. When you run
'xf86config', do you have S3 Trio64V2 in the video card list?
Mail me again, and I'll try to send you a copy of my XF86S3 or however
it's called....
