One more thing to add to this is RPM.  You should be able to use the
XF86_S3 RPM from your RedHat CD to install the server.  If the old
XFree86 doesn't work I'd upgrade to the latest version of XFree86
(currently 3.3.3) you can get it by FTPing to updates.redhat.com. 
Type RPM -qa XFree* in RedHat to find out which version you're
running.  I had some problems getting support for my vid card until I
upgraded to 3.3.3 that solved all of my problems.
