Missed this the first time around. There certainly are some very reliable WiFi phones out there, but none in the open source / open codec space yet. The CHCH hospital put in a heap of IP Wifi handsets on to their Meridian a wee while ago.. I was at a Nortel/Telecom presentation where it was mentioned as an example install. Pretty impressive stuff, and quite reliable. The also use IP based Pendants that have pager/tracking functionality for clinical staff. While we have had 'issues' with the ones installed at work, the technology is very sound and when working they have voice quality as good as a cabled IP phone, and are reliable in the staying connected sense. The reliability issues for us are caused by failings in the implementation rather than product. Cheers, Chris H.
