Hello, it's Peter here and welcome to Tuesday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well and I hope you’ll be able to join me tonight for all the day’s news
today on the programme at half past six.

With the news that the Lincolnshire coast and Hull have been granted one of the
government licences for two new casinos, we'll be looking at what this will
mean for our region. We’ll be looking at how this will affect a generation in
the old fruit market in Hull, plus what it’ll mean for the residents on the
East Coast. More on this later on the programme.

Plus we'll have the latest on whether or not a new application for wind
turbines will be turned down because it could spoil the view for some people
living in sight of the ancient town of Beverley. I’ll have the full story
tonight on BBC One.

And I'll be meeting the pensioner from Lincoln, who's gearing up for both the
London and the New York marathons! An amazing story! And also, Paul, of course,
will be here with the forecast in detail. I hope you can join me for that one.

Letter

You know, because you’re already signed up and you get your daily Levy Letter,
but if there's someone you know who’s not getting a Letter and you think they
would like one, then point them in the direction of either one of the two
addresses at the bottom of the page – bbc.co.uk/humber or /lincolnshire. Tell
them to click on those, click on Levy Letter and they’ll get their daily and
free email from me every day starting from tomorrow.

Nigella Effect

The success of TV cooks, such as Nigella Lawson, is changing, not just the
quality of the food we eat, but it seems where we eat as well. At one time, we
were happy to sit with our plates on our knees and have our tea in front of the
TV, but house buyers are now demanding a traditional dining room. Celebrity
cooks, including Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver, have encouraged the kind of
dinner party menus, which demand a fully laid out table in less casual
surroundings. So now, when people are buying a house, they’re demanding a
dining room! They were out of fashion, but now they’re not!

House Prices

It’s a subject that comes up time and time again in the Levy Letter. Once
again, it’s back again. House prices are rising at their fastest in nearly four
years with the property market showing no signs of running out of steam.
Experts are predicting that this year’s value of homes will increase by an
average of £1000 a month or more than £30 a day. Can you believe that? The
average house is going up £30 a day in value! The property boom will continue
in 2007 and for the next three years. They’re estimating that the average price
of a house will go from £187,000 today to £225,000 in 2010. If you’re sitting
in your own property at the moment, then you’re in the right place!

Plastic Surgery

Well, we may chuckle at the pictures of men with man boobs when they’re out on
the beach. One such person, who’s been highlighted is Simon Cowell, but last
year, can you believe, a record 177 men resorted to liposuction to reduce the
size of their breasts, according to surgeons. This was eight times the number,
who had the procedure three years earlier. Your views on plastic surgery
gratefully received.

Pictures

Don’t forget if you’ve got a photograph that you’re particularly proud of and
was taken in our part of the world, or if you’ve got a story or anything that
you think we should know about, then you can email me direct on [EMAIL
PROTECTED] I look forward to hearing from you and looking at your pictures.

Mablethorpe

Paul and I were in Mablethorpe last year for the switching on for the summer
illuminations and fab it was. Hundreds turned out for the occasion and I’m sure
they will again this year. There’s just a quick note from Trisha Ferns. She’s
the press and publicity officer for the Mablethorpe marathon. She’s writing in
the hope that we can raise volunteers and runners and marshals to help and take
part in this year’s run, which is on Sunday 16th September. It starts and ends
at the Sherwood Fields in Mablethorpe. Go along and support the good cause.
That’s the marathon on Sunday 16th September 2007.

If you’re involved in something and it is for charity, then let me know and
I’ll try and give you a plug in the Levy Letter one day. Debb Pollard has been
in touch about a huge event she’s organising for Scunthorpe. It’s called the
Sleep Walk and it sounds bonkers! She’s calling for women, who live in the
Scunthorpe area to come and walk around the town in your pyjamas or nighties,
or whatever sleepwear you’d prefer. That sounds crazy enough, but this event is
going on at midnight on Friday 29th June! I’m sure that’ll be a sight! So join
in the Sleep Walk on June 29th, because Debb tells me it’s all in aid of a very
good cause – the Lindsey Lodge Hospice. You have to register and get an
application form, which is out now. Log on to their website for more
information on www.lindseylodgesleepwalk.org.uk or ring them on 01724 270835.
It’s for a great cause, but perhaps invest now in some decent pyjamas!

Well, that's it from me for today. Have a good afternoon and join me tonight on
BBC One at 6.30pm.

Take care,

Peter
