Hello, it's Peter here and welcome to Thursdays Levy Letter. Yes it really is Thursday this time!! I hope your day is going well and that youll be able to join me tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm. Ill have all the days news and, of course, therell be the forecast from Paul. And as I write this, the weather is still calm, but of course, today is the day when its supposed to be lively. So by the time you get this, maybe it will have already started! So as severe storms are forecast with winds up to 80mph, I'll have all the latest on how this is affecting our region. And if you see some damage either to trees or to your house thats been caused by this wind, then dont forget to let us know. Wed love to see your photos if you see anything when youre out and about today. Take a quick snap and send it to us to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Also tonight on the programme, well have the story of Keith Slater. Eighteen years ago, Keith was stabbed to death on his doorstep in Hessle. We'll be at the trial of the man, who was extradited from Australia and now stands accused of his murder. Well have the latest on this court case. Plus it seems like it's back to the drawing board over plans for three permanent travellers' sites in Lincolnshire. We'll be talking to travellers about why these sites are so badly needed. More on this later. Ill also be talking to a fertility expert, who'll explain what effects food has on our love life. Plus I'll be meeting the fourteen year old Lincoln boy. Its a wonderful story. Hes starring in a new CBBC drama, but his acting debut comes just five years after an accident left him using a wheelchair. Its such an achievement and Ill be chatting with him later about his role in this new CBBC drama. Ill have his story tonight on the programme. I hope you can join me tonight. Emails Thanks for the emails telling me that I said yesterdays Letter was Thursdays! Of course, it was Wednesday. Fairly comical emails coming in, reminding me that I must be wishing my life away or at least wishing the week away. And it really is Thursday today. I can confirm that. Thanks for the emails on that and indeed on all the subjects as well that weve mentioned in the Letter over the past few weeks. I was talking yesterday about being able to buy shirts at just £4.00. Theres a note here that comes from Bernice. She says, Now we know why Paul has so many shirts. Some arent very picturesque either. Give him a rise and then he could be more choosy like you Peter! Ha Ha! Thanks very much indeed Bernice. I like emails like that one! She also comments about my thoughts on Les Dawson and his wife, Tracy. She says, I agree with his wife. I think they should repeat some of Les shows. He was far more talented than Morecombe and Wise. Les was multi-talented. Its so sad that he should be forgotten by so many. So there you are. Another call for a repeat of Les Dawson on the telly. Your House Dont forget, if youd like Look North to come from your house. If youve got a good story, or if you know somebody whos got a good story and some tales to tell, then let me know why we should do the whole show from your place. Drop me a line and give me the details. We did a Leave it to Levy last night on the programme. We were looking for bell ringers. If youre interested then get in touch with me! Do you fancy being a campanologist? Get in touch. Also let me know if youve got a problem that we might be able to deal with in Leave it to Levy. Its the usual address of [EMAIL PROTECTED] I look forward to hearing from you. And Id like your help with something too. On the programme in the past, weve told you about the campaign to save services at Beverley Westwood hospital. People in the area are desperate to save wards from closing after the sell off of parts of the hospital. I want you to get in touch with me on this one. Let me know if youve had to use the Beverley Westwood hospital. Were you perhaps in an accident and had to go to the hospital for emergency treatment? Has a member of your family been to the hospital and was their treatment there crucial to their recovery? Let me know your story and get in touch to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hay Fever I see that hay fever sufferers could develop runny noses and streaming eyes within weeks, because of this exceptionally mild winter. Experts have found that some forms of pollen, which trigger allergic reactions, are already in the air. This suggests that people, who are sensitive to this kind of pollen, could start to develop symptoms as early as next month. Millions of Britons are currently struck down with colds and flu, so many could go straight from a cold to hay fever, caused by the extraordinary and mild winter. And the other night on the news, they were showing snowdrops, daffodils and all those flowers, which are bizarrely coming up in our gardens, but which really shouldnt be here in the middle of January! Australian Breakfast Weve got a great charity event coming up, which I hope you can get involved with. Its called the Great Australian Breakfast and its on the morning of Sunday 28th January. All the proceeds go to lots of very deserving charities in Lincolnshire. Its held at The Lawns in Lincoln. Have you ever been to the Lawns? Well, its a lovely place. Its up at the top of the hill in Lincoln, very close to the Castle walls. Its a very relaxing place up there and some spectacular views of the city of Lincoln can be found from just down the road from there. So its worth climbing up the steep hill in the city for that. So pop along to the Great Australian Breakfast on the morning of Sunday 28th January. Ill be there and so will the presenters from BBC Radio Lincolnshire. I hope to be able to meet you there! Fridge Magnets Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that so many people would be so motivated by a free fridge magnet. I briefly mentioned with Paul on the programme a couple of weeks back that I had some magnets to give away and since then Ive been inundated with emails. I have only a couple still left. Obviously there must be a lot of people collecting magnets for their fridges. So get in touch if you still want one. Well, that's it from me for today. If there's someone you know, whos not signed up for the Levy Letter. Tell them about it and tell them to go to either one of the two addresses at the bottom of the page. Click on Levy Letter and sign up. Theyll then get their first daily Levy Letter from me the following day. Dont forget to watch tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm and look out for your Levy Letter again tomorrow.
