Hello, it's Peter here. Welcome to today’s Levy Letter. I hope your day's going
well and you'll be able to join me tonight on BBC One at half past six. We'll
have all the day's news as usual. Coming up on tonight’s programme, with more
than six hundred workers facing an uncertain future we'll be looking at just
why Skelton’s Bakery has gone into administration and whether there is any hope
of a new buyer being found. Skelton’s is such a well known name in these parts
it would be sad to lose it.

Scores of wind farms are planned for East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and
tonight we'll have a special report from a community in Cornwall that's been
living with the giant turbines for more than a decade. We'll see what impact
they've had on family life and tourism. Wind turbines are such a controversial
subject, it’s be interesting to see how people have lived with them for so long.

We've all seen glossy so-called coffee table books for sale but tonight we
feature one with a difference... it's all about Hull's Orchard Park estate

A special piece of vaudeville history goes under the hammer today with the sale
in Lincoln of a collection of marionettes... we'll have the fascinating story
behind these puppets.

We'll also be meeting a young dancer destined for great things!

And we’ll have the forecast from Lisa.

Heather

I see that Heather Mills is on her charm offensive at the moment doing the
American equivalent of Come Dancing. She does a back flip which people are
amazed at, but almost overnight from being very hostile to her, the American
people are loving Heather. So now no doubt she’s hoping the same will happen
here. I think the Come Dancing is being shown over here from America, with
Heather Mills’ transformation from hate figure to loved. We’ll have to see if
it happens here.

I was talking yesterday about Connie Fisher, and this click track. She’s now
admitted that on some songs she sings with a click track. This is basically her
voice superimposed as she sings, so if she can’t quite hit the high notes, then
the click track will have the sound of her voice anyway, which rather begs the
question of what’s the point of going to see somebody sing live if they’re
going to sing with a backing track. It’s got plenty of column inches in the
paper and on radio and TV. I saw her being interviewed on breakfast TV
yesterday morning talking about the same story.

Chocolate

Treating yourself to chocolate and sweets can help you achieve a difficult
task. Apparently new research shows that if you’ve got a difficult job, eating
some chocolate will make you feel good about yourself. There we are, surprise
surprise.

Speeding

We were talking about speed cameras last night on the programme and a few days
ago we were talking about closed circuit television cameras and the
proliferation of them in this country. It’s interesting that there is 1% of the
world’s population in the UK, but 20% of the world’s closed circuit television
cameras. That’s just how many cameras there are in this country.

The Royal

I missed it on Sunday but The Royal is back on the TV, filmed around Whitby and
Scarborough. I love the programme, it’s on Sunday nights, and of course on the
Audience with Peter Levy raising money for Children in Need just before
Christmas, we had the actress Michelle Hardwick. Michelle plays Lizzie on the
programme. She’s a Yorkshire actress born and bred in Leeds. If you’re a fan of
The Royal, it is back. I don’t think they’ve done too much advertising on that,
and it’s on Sundays.

Stories

Don’t forget, if you’ve got a story you think we should know about, and you
think it would make an interesting discussion point on the programme then all
you have to do is put pen to paper and give me the details and also a contact
telephone number as well. If you think there’s a problem or an issue that you
think we might be able to tackle on the programme and do as an issue then give
me all the details and give them to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I’m on the other end of the email if you want to drop me a line right now.

Titanic

We had a film about it on the programme last night. The Hessle Theatre Company
are doing Titanic the Musical. Last night was their first night. I’ve not heard
from anybody about it yet, but I’m sure it was a great success. If you haven’t
got tickets already then try to get to see Titanic the Musical on at Hull New
Theatre this week until Saturday. There’s a matinee on Saturday as well. We
wish them all the very best for their run.

Well that’s it from me today, join me tonight on BBC One at half past six as
usual. I’ll see you then. Bye for now.

Peter
