Hello, it's Peter here and welcome to Wednesday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day
is going well and I hope you'll be able to join me tonight on BBC One at half
past six as usual. I'll have all the day's news and Paul will have the forecast
as usual.

On tonight's Look North, we'll have a special report on whether or not Hull has
missed out on a £50 million tourism bonanza as the 2010 Tall Ships race goes to
Hartlepool. After the success of this year’s Clipper round-the-world yacht race
in Hull, it was hoped that this event would continue to boost tourism in the
area. I’ll be talking to the council tonight to find out why they failed to
even put in a bid for the event.

Also tonight, find out why Grantham has become the bridge bashing capital of
the country. More motorists crash into road bridges in the town than anywhere
else in the UK. I’ll be finding out why on tonight’s programme.

And I’ll be meeting the Beverley gun club member, who's going for gold at the
Beijing Olympics. That’s all tonight on BBC One at half past six.

Thanks very much for all the pictures that have come in just recently. There
has been a great response. The more unusual one are always better. I think
we’ve had enough of photos of sunsets and the Humber Bridge. I look forward to
seeing your works of art. As ever you can write anytime to me at [EMAIL
PROTECTED]

Don’t forget if you are involved with an event or fund raising 'do' and would
like a mention in the Levy Letter, then just drop me a line. I know it’s a very
busy time of the year for events and let’s hope this fab weather, which has
arrived late, will last for a good while yet.

There are a great many aeroplane enthusiasts in our region, and even more
travel to our local airbases to see the planes on show. Well, I’ve been told
that the 23rd August 2007 marks the 60th anniversary of the death of Roy
Chadwick, one of Britain’s most legendary and accomplished aircraft designers
of the twentieth century. To commemorate Roy Chadwick’s life and achievements
The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby are staging a special
day on the August Bank Holiday. There will be many special guests present from
the RAF and those connected with the design and testing of some of the planes
created by Roy. On the day, weather permitting, there will be a flying display
given by BAE Systems Avro Anson flown by Chief Test Pilot John Turner and
Supermarine Mk9 Spitfire piloted by Paul Day. The Battle of Britain Memorial
Flight Lancaster PA 474 will also be giving a flyby during the day. In the
hanger will be an illustrated photographic display by the Woodford A!
viation Heritage Group and a special display on wartime wreck recovery by the
Lincolnshire Aircraft Recovery Group. So I thought I should include information
in the Levy Letter today about this event as I’m sure there are many plane
enthusiasts out there. So, here’s the note for your diaries - The Roy Chadwick
Memorial Day is being held at The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, East
Kirkby, Spilsby starting from 10-30am. I have been told that if you want more
information about this event, then please do not hesitate to call the centre on
01790 763207 for more information.

I have of course been to Hedon many times, but I happened to be there on
Tuesday morning in glorious sunshine and it reminded me of just what a great
place it is. There’s a fabulous church of course and the main street is a mix
of some great shops. What a lovely place to live!

I was saying how many pictures have come in recently and of course this would
never have been possible had it not been for digital cameras and computers. I
was reminded of the technology after reading a postcard this morning from Jean
and Dennis who are on holiday in Tintagel in Cornwall. They have obviously
taken their computer with them as they are still watching Look North and
listening to BBC Radio Humberside! That's true loyalty for you. So hello to
Jean and Dennis.

Well, that's it from me for now. Have a lovely day and join me tonight at half
past six for tonight’s Look North.

Take care,

Peter
