Hi there! It’s Peter and I’m back from my holidays. And how was Christmas for
you? Lots of people here in the newsroom have been battling colds and flu over
the festive period. If you were poorly over Christmas, then I hope you had a
good time. There were some lovely messages sent in over the holidays. This one
here from Lesley and Paul from Boston in Lincolnshire. “Hi everyone at Look
North, Hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a happy 2008. Have loads of
festive fun!” Thanks Lesley and Paul and thanks to everyone, who have messaged
in with Christmas cards or with New Year greetings.

Look North will be back as normal tonight at half past six. Tonight, we'll have
the latest on the unexploded World War Two bomb found near Howden and we'll
take a look at the efforts being made to make it safe.

Plus every year, thousands of people are reported missing. For one family from
Hull, it's been a year of anguish as they wait for news of their son, who
disappeared last January. We’ll have their story tonight.

Also as road deaths in 2007 on Lincolnshire's roads see a rise of 20%, this has
prompted calls for a complete rethink of road safety in the region. We’ll take
a look at plans to improve safety for our motorists.

As many people struggle to get off the sofa at this time of year, training
doesn't stop for our region's sports men and women. We'll be with
Lincolnshire's top swimmer, Lizzie Simmonds, as she continues her training for
a very challenging year ahead.

And it's a chance for scores of children to get some extra pocket money. We'll
be in Driffield today for a special report on a centuries' old tradition.

9 To 5

I think for many of us, getting up today for work may have been a bit of a
struggle, but how many of you are thinking you should really put in lots of
overtime in the forthcoming weeks to pay off the credit cards left over from
Christmas? Well, as you probably know work-related stress is very common as our
9 to 5 job comes home with us as we worry about work that we didn’t have time
to finish. Do you find you have to take your unfinished chores home with you?
Experts believe that although we complain loudly about our mountain of work
waiting for us every day on our desk, we are actually the biggest cause of our
work related stress. A business expert is saying that we deliberately leave
work unfinished, so that we can stress over it and we may not even know we’re
doing it. He believes we actually like feeling guilty over our work levels.
True? I’m not so sure. However, I read that the UK now has the longest working
hours in the developed world. We’ve always worked longer than!
our European colleagues, who value their long lunches and siestas, but we’ve
now surpassed the US in the length of our working day. So there you go. I think
I need another holiday…

A quick plug as always now for the Waddington Dramatic Society. They’re
performing Snow White on January 24th – 26th at Waddington Village Hall. The
group are entering their 40th anniversary this year and this will be their
fifteenth pantomime! That’s amazing. So congratulations to the Waddington
Dramatic Society. Break a leg for the 24th January and thanks to Graham Pues,
who got in touch with me about that.

Well, that's it from me for now. I hope you can join me tonight for Look North.
As always keep in touch. I’d like to hear how your Christmas was and get in
touch straight away if there’s any story that’s affecting you or your friends
or family that you think we should know about. As always, it’s [EMAIL

Take care,

Peter
