Hi there, it’s Peter here with your Letter. What a morning! People in the
newsroom are coming in with tales of dreadful winds last night and this
morning, of awful rain and even thunder too. On tonight's programme, we'll take
a look at the East Yorkshire commute from hell this morning as gales hit the
whole region. We'll take a look at the scale of the damage on homes and
businesses and take a look at the disruption to power in many villages in
Lincolnshire. And of course, Paul will have the forecast for us as usual.

Also tonight, as one national supermarket announces plans to use wind turbines
to power its Hull store, we’ll be investigating what this will mean for
shoppers.

We'll meet Charlie the Cat, who hitched a ride all the way to Norfolk. After
being missing for five weeks, he was finally reunited, although somewhat
thinner for his travels, with his owners from Kingswood. They’re extremely
thankful to school children in Norfolk, who spent loads of time distributing
posters to help find Charlie. We’ll have this intrepid cat’s story tonight!

They lost their bottom of the table match on Tuesday night. Find out how
Lincoln City are preparing for their weekend fixture as they struggle against
relegation.

And we'll meet the Lincolnshire man, who's bought himself a little bit of TV
history. If you're out and about in Sutton on Sea or Mablethorpe, then you may
think you've stepped back in time. We'll meet the proud owner of the Ford
Cortina, which starred in the BBC's ‘Life On Mars’ series. That’s all tonight
on BBC One at half past six. I hope you can join me.

Leave It To Levy

We had a bit of a Leave It To Levy story last night where we tried to find a
conductor for the Market Weighton Handbell Ringers. Any takers? Anybody
interested in joining that group? Well, get in touch with me if you do. And
here’s another plea that I’d like to help with. Mrs Carruthers phoned up to ask
if we could put a call out about this. Mrs Carruthers lives in Leicestershire,
but she’s lost touch with a couple, who she believes lives in our area. Mrs
Carruthers has looked after a friend’s son, Charles Martin and his brothers,
for many years after Charles’ parents both died from cancer. Charles’ aunt and
uncle, Sam and Lynne Cook are believed to live in this area and Charles would
love them to be at his forthcoming wedding. So if Sam and Lynne are reading the
Levy Letter today, or if any reader knows them, then get in touch with me. I’ll
try and get you in touch with the family, because Charles would love you to be
at his wedding! Let’s hope we can help with that!

Beadle’s About

Really sad news this morning about Jeremy Beadle. He’d been diagnosed with
leukaemia and then cancer in 2005, but had remained strong throughout, but he
died aged just fifty-nine after, what has been described, as a short battle
with pneumonia. So sad to hear that news this morning. He had in fact been
dubbed the “most hated man in Britain” after his hugely successful series,
‘Beadle’s About’ where he relished playing practical jokes on unsuspecting
members of the public and on celebrities as well. Of course, that was all an
act and he was in fact a very genuine and hard working guy. Despite being ill,
Jeremy had still released three new books and had been working on new programme
formats as well. I also remembered this morning that he made his name in the
programme ‘Game For A Laugh’ from 1981 – can you remember that? He starred,
along with a number of presenters, with BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Martin
Daniels. So it’s very sad to hear of the news about Jeremy – our thoughts !
 are with his family.

Well, that's it from me for now. Thanks for reading the Letter today. I hope
you’re well. Dreadful weather at the moment, so take care if you’re on the
roads today. I know that the Humber Bridge was closed to high sided vehicles
this morning, because of the high winds, so be careful on the roads. If see any
good photograph opportunities, which highlight our bad weather, then take a few
snaps for us. Of course, please make sure it’s safe to take a picture first,
don’t put yourself in any danger by taking these photos, but if you see a good
shot, then send it in to us. It’s the usual address of [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Oh and I hear that I’m in trouble! Paul Whittaker from Withernsea read the
letter yesterday. I was talking about depression and unhappiness peaking once
you reach forty-four! Well Paul disagrees – “Peter, you sure know just how to
cheer people up - NOT. I was born in 1964 which will make me forty-four this
year. I am not going to get depressed! Thanks a lot.” Oops! Well, I’m a couple
of years older, give or take a few years here or there, and I’m not going to
get depressed either! Thanks Paul!

Take care,

Peter
