Hi there, it’s Peter here with the last Letter of the week. As the Met Office
issues a severe weather warning for motorists to take care on the region's
roads, we'll be live tonight in what could be the worst affected area. With
snow forecast, we’ll be asking Paul for the detailed weekend forecast for the
weekend.

Also tonight, are our streets safe? Find out tonight why our region is ranked
with the highest murder rates in the country.

Plus we'll reveal how GPs in Bridlington are calling on local NHS bosses to
scrap proposals to downgrade their hospital.

And it's a race with a difference at Cadwell Park as the vehicles have no
engines! We'll be there to take a look at how the racers are using pedal power
or gravity to whiz them around the track. That’s all tonight at half past six
as usual.

The Beatles In Space

Well, this is one elaborate way to promote a band! And The Beatles hardly need
the advertising do they? Next week, they’ll become the first band to have a
song played in space. This whole event is to mark the fortieth anniversary of
the track ‘Across The Universe’, which was originally recorded in 1966. This
NASA broadcast of the Fab Four’s track will also coincide with NASA’s fiftieth
anniversary. Do you think when the Beatles first started out that they could
ever imagine their songs being transmitted into space!

Jools

And that’s not the only anniversary to celebrate. He’s quite a cult legend I’m
led to believe. The music lover, Jools Holland, will be celebrating and
broadcasting his 200th show tonight. I had no idea it’s been going on so long!
It’s amazing that he’s still going so strong when ‘Top Of The Pops’ hasn’t. But
he’s still incredibly popular and very hard working with all his tours lined
up. If you want to take a look at that programme, then it’s tonight on BBC Two
at 11.35pm. Happy anniversary to Jools and his team!

Help

Yet again some help is required from you. David Jakins got in touch with me to
ask for some assistance. He writes, “Dear Peter Levy, I am in the process of
compiling my father-in-law’s war diary. There are gaps in the diary, which I
would like to fill by contacting his fellow P.O.W’s or their families.
Therefore I should be grateful if you would help me in tracing the families of
two Ex-P.O.W’s, Len Boynton and J Lancaster both living in Hull during the
1940s. There are others, which I am trying to trace in Leeds. Both were
prisoners with Bob Heppenstall at Capua and Camp 53 Macerata in Italy before
being moved to Stammlager 17B outside Krems Austria.” So there’s the plea from
David. Wouldn’t it be amazing if a Levy Letter reader could help him! As
always, get in touch if you know anything about this. It’s the usual address of
[EMAIL PROTECTED] to get me direct.

Well, that’s it from me. Thanks for all your photos this week, especially
showing our particularly wintry weather we’re having at the moment. Keep them
coming and if there’s any news stories that you think we should know about,
then let me know as well.

Take care, and have a lovely weekend,

Peter
