Hello and welcome to todays Levy Letter for Tuesday. Coming up on Look North tonight at half past six on BBC One, we'll be in Beverley and Lincoln looking at how theyre managing to buck the national trend with house prises that continue to rise.
Theres a double economic boost for Scunthorpe as 300 new jobs are announced, plus a possible direct rail link to London. We have the latest on the man who escaped from Lincoln Crown Court while awaiting sentencing for robbery. John Kinsella claims to have helped Steven Gerrard in his career as an underworld "fixer". And we'll speak to the East Coast artist using coastal erosion to inspire some award winning paintings. We're also live in Barnsley with the latest on Hull Citys push to the Premier League. A victory could take them top of the table. I hope youre having a very good day, and lets hope the weather is better today than yesterday. I think we had every type of weather in the space of a few hours in Hull. At least if youre bored of the weather all you have to do was wait around for a few minutes until it changes, still its not at all convenient to walk around with an umbrella, sunglasses, and a warm overcoat, so lets hope it makes up its mind. Well have the full weather forecast coming up on Look North tonight at the usual time of half past six on BBC One, along with all of the days news. I hope you can join me then. Oxygen Mask There was a heart warming story over the weekend when a cat was resuscitated using a childs oxygen mask after being rescued from a fire in Dundee. Apparently Sookie, a 16 year old black cat with a heart murmur, was rescued from a flaming building after it had been overcome with smoke. Once outside, Sookie was brought back to consciousness by fire fighters using a childs oxygen mask and is now seemingly back to full health. Another two cats and a dog were also safely rescued from the house on Sunday. Once again, the Levy Letter is on top of the big stories in world news. Degrees I mentioned yesterday in the letter that you can now do a university degree in bed selling! Well I see its not the only unconventional degree course starting up. There are of course a lot of qualifications that you can get these days that definitely didnt exist just a few years ago, and one of those is shelf stacking and retail management. Its being launched by a major supermarket, and will offer training in the art of display design, special offers, and efficient stacking of shelves. The course will be taught mostly on the job, or online, with some days at university. Thats extraordinary, isnt it? It seems strange that shelf stacking is now considered a degree subject, but then supermarkets are a big money business these days of course. If youre hoping to go to university and are considering a course in supermarket management, let me know what you think on this, and even if youre not thinking of joining the course, you can share your thoughts with me at my usual address [EMAIL PROTECTED] Id be interested to hear what you think about that. Dont forget, if you miss the programme, if you have a very good excuse such as youre rescuing your cat from a burning building, then you can see the most recent Look North on our website. Go to www.bbc.co.uk/looknorthhull, and you can watch our bulletins online, and also some of our top stories available individually. If you know somebody whos not getting the Levy Letter they can go to that page and sign up, its very easy and theyll receive their free, daily letter from the very next day.
