Hi there, its Peter here. Welcome to Tuesdays Levy Letter. Im sure we all woke up this morning with a smile at the lovely weather. Its about time we had some sunshine isnt it? And Im sure there are many businesses across our region, which are very relieved that were having good weather at last. It's an industry worth more than £650 million to Hull and East Yorkshire, and today tourism in our part of the world is being given a boost with the filming of a special promotional report. The national travel broadcaster, Simon Calder, is in Hull today making this film and well be talking to him to assess how tourism officials are hoping to encourage more people to visit our region.
Also on tonight's programme, we'll hear the story of the Lincoln couple, who are having problems with their energy suppliers. Things have got so bad that they may even have to cancel their wedding. Well listen to their story tonight. And well be asking what would you highlight as the assets or even the eyesores of Goole? We'll be in Goole today where residents are being asked to rate their home town. As Look North's election coverage rolls into Lincolnshire again today, we'll look specifically at the campaign the Conservatives are waging for your vote. Plus we'll continue our series looking at life behind the wire at our military bases with the powerful stories of the Bomber Command veterans and a behind the scenes look at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Well take a look at the work of a Lincolnshire craftsman, whos been making beds for the top brass of the movie and celebrity world. Thats all tonight on the programme at half past six. I hope you can join me. Spring Talking of lovely weather, heres a note from Caroline. Dear Peter, Each year you let us know if viewers have seen the first swallow or sand martin of the year. Well, having had a conversation with a neighbour on Monday about this very subject, I saw one in the evening up here at Ludford, on the Lincolnshire Wolds. Wonderfully, I also saw a sky lark rising and singing its heart out this morning. So summer must be on the way! Good news Im sure for many bird watchers. And just a thought get in touch with us if youve got a lovely story that you think encapsulates Spring. Have you perhaps got a special corner of Britain in your back garden or do you go to great lengths to encourage animals and birds into your garden. Get in touch on this one. If youve got some pictures, then Id love to take a look at them too. Its the usual address of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wrinkles Im not saying anything about this! I just happened to read this though and thought Id share this with you not that I need any help with wrinkles! Apparently, pizza and spaghetti Bolognese could become new tools in the fight against sunburn and wrinkles! A team found adding five tablespoons of tomato paste to the daily diet of ten volunteers improved the skin's ability to protect against harmful UV rays. Damage from these rays can lead to premature ageing and even skin cancer. So there you go I wonder if tomato ketchup on chips has the same effect? Well, this study doesnt say, but we can munch on tomatoes as often as we like because theyre good for our skin! Well, that's it from me for now. At the end of the programme last night, we had some very cute pictures of a baby emu. Theyre looking for a name for it and David from Goxhill, I think, has the right idea!! Dear Peter, I would like to put forward the name "PARKY" in recognition for the famous attack on Michael Parkinson by a certain Emu on his TV chat show!!! Im sure Michael Parkinson would love that! Take care today and enjoy the sunshine, Peter And for the latest news and more where you live, go to: http://bbc.co.uk/humber and http://bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the BBC Look North newsletter, go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/england/looknorthhull/newsletter/newsletter_index.shtml, enter your email address in the unsubscribe box. 1.94.4
