Hi there, its Peter here. Its been a busy night and day for BBC Look North with the local elections yesterday. Tim Iredale, our Political Editor, was down in Lincoln for the count there at the Drill Hall. We had our reporters out at counts in Hull and Grimsby and for West Lindsey so that we could get the results to you. We were on air through until after four in the morning. So well done to all the crews and reporters who must have been looking a bit bleary eyed by the end!
On tonight's programme, after yesterday's local elections, we'll take a look at how our area's women MPs could be wiped off the political map if last night's results are repeated in a general election. Plus we'll look at how the once Labour stronghold of the city of Lincoln has now become a wasteland for the party. We'll have that and the rest of the news after yesterday's crucial local elections. Plus tonight, we'll be with the emergency services, who tried to save the life of the 28 year old Michael Barnett from Hessle during last year's floods. They will speak out for the first time about the impact his death has had on their lives. Well hear their story tonight on Look North. And after an unusually cold start to Spring, we'll find out how the organisers of Spalding's tulip festival are turning to more creative ways of making their floats look the best they can. Also tonight, as Hull City prepare to play their last Championship game of the season, we'll see what the opposition is up to ahead of the Tigers' crucial game against Ipswich on Sunday. And there'll be full match commentary on Hull's game at Ipswich on BBC Radio Humberside on Sunday. The coverage starts at one o'clock on 95.9 fm. Its a huge game for the city, so we wish them well! Yuck Unbelievably, Ive read that some computer keyboards harbour more harmful bacteria than a toilet sea! Thats according to new research. I wouldnt want that job would you? Out of thirty-three keyboards swabbed in this test in London, four were regarded as a potential health hazard and one harboured five times more germs than one of the offices toilet seats! I didnt like this quote either. A microbiologist said that a keyboard was often a reflection of what is in your nose and in your gut! So if you share computer keyboards at work, then you could be transferring illnesses amongst your colleagues! I remember reading this as well last year - research by an American university found that the average office desktop harboured four hundred times more bacteria than the average office toilet seat. And compared to men, on average women have three to four times the amount of germs in, on and around their work area. Yuck! Perhaps we should get our anti-bacterial wipes out! Pigs Wont Fly Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that Roger Waters from Pink Floyd mislaid a giant inflatable pig! There was quite a sizable reward if anyone found it as well! Weve missed our chance though. I had hoped it might float over to Victoria Dock, but no such luck. The pig, which measured the width of two buses, was found by two families on their driveways in La Quinta in America. So theyll now have to split the $10,000 reward! Well, that's it from me for this week. I hope your bank holiday weekend is good. Have you got anything nice planned? Keep in touch and dont forget to keep your camera close by so that I can share in your nice photographs!
