Hello and welcome to today’s Levy Letter. I hope you’re having a good day,
coming up on Look North tonight at half past six on BBC One we'll be speaking
to key local services as they struggle with fuel price rises. We’ll hear from
the bus services, the fire brigade, and local producers to find out what the
cost could be for you.

We look at the findings of a new study by a local university to find our why
entrepreneurs are more successful in the North than in the South. What do you
think of that one? I’m sure we’ll have some of your thoughts by email, text and
on our answer phone as usual.

We have exclusive new pictures from on board the Hull and Humber yacht in the
Clipper Round the World race.

And as Hull City continue their promotion push, we'll be finding out some of
the things the fans are getting up to.

And we’ll have the detailed weather forecast from Paul as usual. I hope you can
join me then, that’s all coming up at half past six on BBC One.

Voice

Well having worked in radio quite a bit I know how important a voice can be,
but it seems that at times women have a biological advantage. A new study
claims that a woman at “peak fertility” has a more alluring voice. Recordings
of women taken at different points in their menstrual cycle were played to
people of both sexes, and the listeners were asked to rate the voices in
attractiveness.
It’s thought that sex hormones can change the workings of a woman’s voice box
in subtle ways that are nonetheless picked up by males who may find the woman
more attractive without necessarily realising why.
Despite the results of the research, scientists are apparently unable to
determine how this works in real conversation, I quote, “in a bar for example”.
I’d like to see them doing that experiment! So that’s another piece of no doubt
expensive research with questionable results that really tells us, well,
nothing much at all!

Sporting Weekend

Well it’s a big sporting weekend coming up for Hull City fans. As I mentioned,
we’ll be looking at some of the unusual things people are getting up to on the
programme tonight. If you’re going to be doing anything, or maybe if you’ve got
a strange superstition you think might help the tigers get the result they
need, then get in touch with me and let me know. Email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
As we saw on the programme earlier in the week, some football fans try not to
change their underwear when their team’s been winning. If that’s the case then
you don’t have to send in a photograph, I’ll take your word for it.

Cut-out Paul

A reminder that if there’s anything you’ve ever wished to do to Paul Hudson,
within reason, you can now do it with your very own, almost life size, Paul
Hudson cut-out.
We showed some footage on the programme of a picture of Paul being mangled by a
blackbird, and that inspired BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s William Wright to put up
a print-out-and-keep version of Paul on the BBC Lincolnshire website.
You can get it here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire/content/articles/2008/04/28/paul_hudson_drivetime_feature.shtml
and it seems Paul’s already had a few adventures. If you manage to put Paul in
any interesting situations, let me know. I’m sure he’ll be delighted…

Well that’s about it from me for tonight. As always, if you’ve got anything you
want to let us know about, a story for the programme or maybe a picture to show
before the weather, you can get in touch and drop us a line by email. [EMAIL
PROTECTED] is the address. I look forward to reading some more of your comments.

Have a very good day, I hope you can join me on Look North tonight at the usual
time of half past six on BBC One.

Bye for now

Peter
