Hello there and welcome to the final edition of this week’s Levy Letter. Wasn’t
it windy last night? I know the Humber Bridge was down to 30 mph because of the
side winds. Let’s hope the weather stays nice this weekend. Paul will have the
forecast for the weekend on tonight’s programme; let’s hope it is good news!

Warm Feelings

I’ve been reading today that if you want someone to warm to you the best thing
to do, to win them over, is to give them a hot drink. American researchers
suggest that people are more likely to judge strangers as welcoming and
trustworthy when they are holding a hot cup of coffee. Volunteers in the study
were asked to rate people and research found that people were judged to be 11%
“warmer” and friendlier after holding a hot drink than after holding a cold
drink. Well there you go, if you want people to warm to you bring them a hot
drink! Mine’s a cup of tea please!

Cat Comeback

It seems that not a week goes by when you hear of some vintage TV show making a
comeback. Well what do you think to this one? The lovable cloth cat Bagpuss may
be returning to our screens for a whole new generation of viewers. The company
which owns the rights to the character changed hands and the new owners have
the rights until at least 2013. Can you believe that they only made 13 episodes
way back in 1974, yet so many people are big fans? In 1999 ‘Bagpuss’ was named
favourite children’s TV show and earlier this year the furry feline was named
best TV animal of all time in an online poll. What were your favourite
children’s TV characters? I’d love to hear from you. You can contact me on

please get in touch.

Weekend Telly

As it is Friday I thought you might like to hear about things to look out for
on the box this weekend. As usual ‘The X Factor’ and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’
will have their contestants singing and dancing for survival as they try and
stay in the competition for another week.
On ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this week the contestants will either perform a
Viennese Waltz or Paso Doble, and singer Enrique Iglesias will be performing on
the results show on Sunday night. 10 acts remain on ‘The X Factor’ this week.
Louis Walsh only has one band, JLS, left in his group so no doubt he will be
hoping the viewers will be sympathetic.
It is the fourth episode of ‘Little Britain USA’ this week and if you are a fan
of James Bond be sure to watch Jonathon Ross as Daniel Craig will be making an
appearance.
If you enjoy your dancing and music you might want to check out ‘Britannia
High’ which starts on ITV1 this Saturday. It is the brainchild of Arlene
Phillips, who is best known as one of the judges on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. It
comes across as a mix of ‘Fame’ and ‘High School Musical’ so a good one to
watch with the family this week. And if you are a fan of costume dramas and
adaptations, then be sure to look out for Charles Dickens’ ‘Little Dorrit’
which debuts on BBC One this Sunday at 8pm. Phew! I hope you manage to grab
hold of the remote this weekend! If you manage to catch anything over the
weekend I’d love to hear your thoughts.

That’s all for today’s Levy Letter. Don’t forget the clocks go back tomorrow
night and enjoy your extra hour in bed!

Take care,

Peter
